The fingernail test
Clean the area and run a fingernail lightly across the scratch, not along it. If the nail glides over, the mark is in the clear coat and will usually polish out. If the nail catches, the scratch is through the clear coat and needs paint. Wet the scratch too: one that vanishes when wet is shallow.

Can you fix a scratch at my parking in Arjan?

Does toothpaste or WD-40 remove car scratches?
Not properly. Toothpaste is a crude abrasive that can dull the clear coat around the scratch. Oily sprays fill the mark and make it look better until the next wash. A proper machine polish removes a controlled amount of clear coat and refines the surface afterwards.
Will a scratch rust if I leave it?
Only if it reaches bare steel. Scratches in the clear coat or colour coat do not rust, though sun and washing can make them more visible. Bare metal on a door, wing or bonnet should be sealed with touch-up paint soon, even if a full repair comes later.
