Why a Nissan can show 13 volts and still be healthy
Many newer Nissan models use a variable charging system. A small current sensor on the negative cable tells the engine computer how full the battery is, and the alternator output is lowered when the battery does not need charging. A reading near 13V at idle can be normal on these cars, where an older car would show 14V or more.
That is why we do not judge a Nissan alternator on one number. The technician switches on the headlights, rear demister and AC, raises the revs and watches the voltage respond. He also reads resting voltage and cranking strength on the battery itself. If the battery is healthy and the car simply sat too long in the basement, a jump start service and a proper drive is all it needs.

What battery does a Nissan Patrol take?

My Nissan Sunny clicks but will not start. Is it the battery?
Rapid clicking with dim dashboard lights usually means the battery is too weak to turn the starter. A single loud click with bright lights points more towards the starter motor. We test resting voltage and cranking strength at your car, so you know which it is before a battery is fitted.
Do Nissan cars need battery registration after a change?
