The short answer
A Bentley Continental GT, Flying Spur or Mulsanne carries two large AGM batteries in the boot, each around 90 to 110Ah: one cranks the engine and one runs the car's electrics. The Bentayga has its own layout. Arjan Battery tests each battery separately, then replaces and registers the weak one or the pair at your door in Arjan and across Dubai.
Most Bentley battery trouble is not about age. It is about standing still. These cars keep dozens of control units alive while parked, and a Continental left for three weeks in a basement can come back to a dark dashboard. The repair is methodical work on two batteries, done without disturbing the leather around them.

Why a Bentley carries two batteries
A large eight or twelve-cylinder engine needs a great deal of current to turn over, and the cabin needs a steady supply for air suspension, seat motors, amplifiers and control units. Bentley splits the two jobs. One battery is reserved for cranking. The other carries everything else. A control unit links them for charging and separates them when the car is parked.
The benefit is that a drained electrics battery should still leave the car able to start. The catch is diagnosis. A warning on the dash does not say which battery is weak, and the two are usually the same age. That is why the test comes first and the quote second.
The two batteries compared
Starter battery
- Supplies the starter motor and little else, so it normally sits fully charged.
- A weak one shows as a slow, laboured crank while the screens and lights look normal.
- Usually outlasts the other battery, unless the car has been jump started repeatedly.
Electrics battery
- Runs the cabin, suspension and control units, including everything that stays awake while parked.
- A weak one shows as charge warnings, comfort functions switching off and a car slow to unlock.
- Cycles deeply on a car that is driven rarely, which is what wears it out first.
We test the two batteries one at a time and show the owner both readings. If they are the same age and one has failed, the other is usually close behind, but that is the owner's decision to make with the numbers in hand.
How the work is done
- 1
Look the car up
We ask for the registration card. Model year decides the battery sizes, their position and whether a 48V system is present.
- 2
Gain access without damage
A flat car is powered through its charging points so the boot opens. Carpeted panels are lifted by hand and set aside on a clean cover.
- 3
Test each battery
Resting voltage and cranking health for each battery, then alternator output with the engine running.
- 4
Replace with support power
A memory saver holds the car's settings where it allows. AGM of the original capacity goes in, with vent tubes reconnected.
- 5
Register and clear
The new battery is registered with a scan tool and stored voltage faults are cleared. We check that no warnings return on restart.
Keeping a rarely driven Bentley charged
Use the battery conditioner
Many Bentleys were supplied with a mains conditioner and a socket for it. If your bay has power, keep it plugged in.
Drive it properly
Ten minutes around Arjan does not refill two large batteries. A longer run on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road does far more.
Test before summer
A battery testing visit in spring shows which battery is ageing, while there is still time to plan the replacement.
Do not ignore charge warnings
Each deep discharge costs an AGM battery some capacity. Acting on the first warning is what saves the battery.
Bentley: Model by model
- Bentley Continental GT
- Two AGM batteries under the boot floor, one for starting and one for the electrics. When either weakens the car logs voltage faults, so both are tested separately before a decision is made.
- Bentley Bentayga
- A large 12V AGM runs the car, and many cars also carry a 48V system for the active anti-roll bars. We work on the 12V side only and confirm the battery position from the VIN.
- Bentley Flying Spur
- Same twin-battery layout in the boot as the Continental GT. Rear seat motors, fridges and screens make the electrics battery work harder, and it is often the first of the two to fail.
- Bentley Continental GTC
- The convertible shares the GT's two batteries. The powered roof is one of the heaviest electrical loads on the car, and we do not operate it until both batteries have been tested.
- Bentley Mulsanne
- Twin large AGM batteries in the boot feeding a very heavy electrical load. Access means lifting carpeted panels carefully, which is slower than on an ordinary saloon.
- Bentley Continental Flying Spur
- The earlier name for the Flying Spur, from 2005. Two batteries in the boot, as on the GT of the same years. Cars of this age have often had one battery changed and not the other.
Battery brands we recommend for Bentley
We carry brands that car makers fit at the factory and that hold up in Gulf heat. Each one has its strengths, and we will tell you which suits your car.
VartaThe German battery many European cars leave the factory with, in standard, EFB and AGM form.
BoschA German parts name with a battery range you can read by its code: S4, S5, S4 E and S5 A.
ExideOne of the oldest names in car batteries, now made by two separate companies. The label tells you which.

Get the price and arrival time
We reply with the battery options that fit, the full price and how long the van will take. Nothing moves until you say yes.
- 3
We test before we fit
The technician checks the old battery and the alternator first. If a jump start or a clean terminal fixes it, that is what you get.

Bentley: common questions
Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.
Does a Bentley Continental GT have two batteries?
Yes. The Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur carry two 12V AGM batteries in the boot. One is kept for starting the engine and the other supplies the rest of the car. They are tested and can be replaced separately, though they are often changed as a pair.
Should I replace both Bentley batteries at the same time?
Not automatically. We test each one. If both are original and one has failed, replacing the pair is usually the sensible choice, because the second tends to follow within months. If one was changed recently and tests well, it can stay.
My Bentley is completely dead and the boot will not open. What now?
Do not force anything. The car has provision for exactly this: external charging points and a mechanical key release, depending on model. Our technician powers the car first, opens the boot normally and then tests both batteries before anything is replaced.
Does a Bentley battery need registering after replacement?
Yes. Like other Volkswagen Group cars with battery management, a Bentley should have the new battery registered with a scan tool so charging restarts from new. We also clear the low-voltage faults that a flat battery leaves in many control units.
Can you change a Bentley battery at my home in Dubai?
Yes, at a villa, a tower basement or an office car park, 24 hours a day. In Arjan and neighbouring communities arrival is usually 20 to 35 minutes. For other parts of Dubai and for Abu Dhabi we confirm the time on WhatsApp first.
