The short answer
Chevrolet batteries depend on where the car was built. The Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado and Camaro take large BCI group batteries such as 48 (H6) or 94R (H7), often AGM, while the Spark, Cruze, Captiva and Groove use smaller 45 to 70Ah units. Arjan Battery identifies the right one and fits it at your door in Arjan or anywhere in Dubai.
The bow tie badge covers a wider spread of cars than almost any other in the UAE: a V8 truck from Texas, a muscle car from Michigan, a hatchback from Korea and a crossover from China. They share a name and little else under the bonnet. The battery, and where it is hidden, changes with each of them.

Battery brands we recommend for Chevrolet
We carry brands that car makers fit at the factory and that hold up in Gulf heat. Each one has its strengths, and we will tell you which suits your car.
ACDelcoGeneral Motors' own parts brand, and the natural fit for Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac.
VartaThe German battery many European cars leave the factory with, in standard, EFB and AGM form.
ExideOne of the oldest names in car batteries, now made by two separate companies. The label tells you which.
EnergizerA household battery name on a car battery made by a licensed specialist. Judge it by the specification.
Two families under one badge
American-built: Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Traverse, Camaro
- Sized by BCI group number. Group 48 and 94R are the common ones now, group 78 on older trucks.
- High cold-cranking ratings to turn a V8, and AGM on models with start-stop or heavy equipment.
- Not always under the bonnet. Camaro and Traverse hide the battery inside the car.
Korean and Chinese-built: Spark, Cruze, Captiva, Groove
- Sized in DIN cases with recessed posts, from about 45Ah on a Spark to 70Ah on an older Captiva.
- Usually an ordinary sealed maintenance-free battery, in plain view at the front of the engine bay.
- Quick to replace, with nothing to code. The test before fitting matters more than the swap.
What a Tahoe does to its battery in a Dubai summer
A Tahoe or Suburban asks for a burst of several hundred amps to turn a 5.3 or 6.2 litre V8, then runs front and rear AC, cooled seats and a row of screens. Newer ones also shut the engine off at signals. Heat under that long bonnet commonly ends the battery at about 2 to 3 years, sooner on school-run mileage.
GM does not use a dealer registration step the way BMW does. The car's battery sensor relearns the new battery by itself after the vehicle has rested locked for a few hours. What matters is fitting the same technology and at least the same cranking rating, then checking alternator output, which should sit roughly between 13.8 and 14.7V.

Where Chevrolet hides the battery
Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado
Under the bonnet at the front corner of the engine bay. High off the ground, so the technician works from a step.
Camaro
In the boot under the floor trim. If the battery is flat, the posts under the bonnet give enough power to release the boot.
Traverse
Under a floor cover behind the front passenger seat. Slide the seat forward and lift the mat to see it.
Spark, Cruze, Captiva, Groove
Under the bonnet where you expect it, at the front of the engine bay. No trim to remove on most cars.
What to send us for a quick Chevrolet callout
- Model, year and engine. A 2012 Tahoe and a 2022 Tahoe take different batteries.
- A photo of the battery label, showing the group size and the cold-cranking amps.
- Whether the engine shuts off by itself at signals, which tells us it needs AGM.
- Where the car is: tower and basement level, villa driveway, mall car park or roadside.
Chevrolet: Model by model
- Chevrolet Tahoe
- Recent Tahoes take a group 48 (H6) or 94R (H7) AGM of 70 to 80Ah under the bonnet. Older generations used a side-terminal group 78, a completely different battery, so the year matters.
- Chevrolet Suburban
- Same battery as the Tahoe of the same year, with more for it to run: a third row, rear AC and often a rear entertainment system. We fit the higher cranking rating when two options exist.
- Chevrolet Silverado
- Petrol 1500 trucks follow the Tahoe. Diesel heavy-duty versions run two batteries in parallel, which should be replaced as a pair. Many trucks also have an empty tray for an auxiliary battery.
- Chevrolet Captiva
- The older Korean-built Captiva takes a DIN battery of about 70Ah. The current model is a different, Chinese-built car with a smaller battery of around 60Ah.
- Chevrolet Malibu
- Turbo Malibus with start-stop need an AGM. Battery position has changed between generations, with some versions carrying it in the boot, so we confirm before coming.
- Chevrolet Cruze
- A straightforward job: a DIN battery of about 60Ah at the front of the engine bay. Check that the negative cable clamp is tight, a known source of odd electrical faults on this car.
- Chevrolet Camaro
- The battery is in the boot under the floor trim on both recent generations. Jump posts are under the bonnet. Most take a group 48 or 94R, AGM on later cars.
- Chevrolet Traverse
- The battery sits under the floor behind the front passenger seat, not under the bonnet. It is a sealed, vented unit, and jump terminals are provided in the engine bay.
- Chevrolet Spark
- Takes one of the smallest batteries in the range, around 45Ah. It has little reserve, so short trips and an interior light left on finish it quickly.

Chevrolet: common questions
Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.
What battery does a Chevrolet Tahoe take?
Recent Tahoes take a BCI group 48 (H6) or 94R (H7) battery of about 70 to 80Ah, AGM on models with start-stop. Tahoes from the early 2000s used a side-terminal group 78. Tell us the year or send a photo of the label and we bring the correct one.
Where is the battery on a Chevrolet Camaro?
In the boot, under the floor trim, on both the fifth and sixth generation cars. For a jump start you do not need to reach it: there is a positive post and an earth stud under the bonnet. We replace it in your parking bay and take the old battery away for recycling.
Is ACDelco the right battery for a Chevrolet?
ACDelco is GM's own parts brand and the factory fit on US-built Chevrolets, so it is the natural first choice for a Tahoe, Silverado or Camaro. Varta, Exide and Energizer make the same group sizes to equal ratings. For a Spark or Captiva any of them in the correct DIN size suits.
Does a Chevrolet need the battery registered after replacement?
No. Chevrolet has no registration procedure. Newer models have a battery sensor that relearns after the car sits locked for a few hours, and start-stop may stay off until then. We still scan for stored low-voltage faults after fitting and clear them.
Can you jump start a Silverado in Arjan at night?
Yes, we are open 24 hours, 7 days. A V8 truck needs more starting current than a small car, and the technician comes equipped for it. In Arjan and nearby areas arrival is usually 20 to 35 minutes. After the jump start we test the battery and alternator so you know whether it will start tomorrow.
