The short answer
A petrol Jaecoo J7 or J8 takes a DIN-size 12V battery of about 60 to 80Ah in the engine bay, normally an EFB or AGM because the turbo engines run idle stop-start. Plug-in hybrid and electric versions carry a 12V auxiliary battery. Arjan Battery confirms the fitment from a photo, then tests and replaces the battery at your door in Arjan and anywhere in Dubai.
Jaecoo arrived in the UAE with boxy SUVs aimed at people who leave the tarmac at weekends. That use shapes the battery story: accessories wired in after purchase, long drives followed by long stands, and a parked car that is never fully asleep. Here is what each version carries and how we deal with it.

Which Jaecoo, which battery
Four versions, three different low-voltage setups.
J7 petrol
A starter battery in the engine bay. EFB or AGM, about 60 to 70Ah, replaced like for like at your door.
J7 plug-in hybrid
A 12V auxiliary battery wakes the electronics. If it is flat, the car stays dark even with charge in the main battery.
J8
The biggest battery in the range, 70 to 80Ah, feeding three rows of seats, large screens and a powered tailgate.
Electric versions
No engine to crank. The 12V battery only runs the low-voltage system, and we test and boost it without touching high-voltage parts.

What weekend use does to the battery
A Jaecoo that goes to the desert on Friday often carries extras: a fridge in the boot, roof lights, an air compressor, a phone charging in every socket. With the engine running the alternator covers all of it. With the engine off at camp, everything comes out of a battery sized for starting, not for hours of supply.
Deep discharges like that shorten the life of any starter battery, and AGM copes with them better than EFB. If you camp often, tell us. We can fit AGM where the tray and the car allow it, and we test the charging voltage so you know the battery is being refilled on the drive home.
A no-start call, minute by minute
A hard-wired dashcam is the usual drain
When a nearly new Jaecoo goes flat after a few days parked, the cause is often an accessory on a permanent feed: a dashcam in parking mode, a tracker or a fridge socket. Tell the technician what was added after purchase. He can measure the current the car draws while locked and show you the reading.
Jaecoo: Model by model
- Jaecoo J7
- The 1.6 turbo petrol runs idle stop-start, so the usual battery is an EFB or AGM of about 60 to 70Ah in the engine bay. The plug-in hybrid J7 is a different job and has a 12V auxiliary battery.
- Jaecoo J8
- The large three-row SUV with a 2.0 turbo. It carries more electrical load than the J7 and usually takes a 70 to 80Ah EFB or AGM. We check the case length before loading.
- Jaecoo J5
- The smaller, newer model. Fitment depends on whether the car is petrol or electric, and there is little history on it yet, so a photo of the battery label is the only safe guide.
- Jaecoo J6
- An electric off-road style model. It has no starter battery in the usual sense, only a 12V auxiliary battery that wakes the car. We test it and boost it on site.
- Jaecoo 7
- The J7 under the name used in other markets and on some imported cars. Battery choice follows the engine and the stop-start equipment, exactly as on a Gulf J7.
- Jaecoo 8
- The J8 under its other market name. Imported cars can differ in equipment, so we ask for the label photo and do not rely on the badge.

Jaecoo: common questions
Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.
What battery does a Jaecoo J7 take?
The petrol J7 usually takes an EFB or AGM battery of about 60 to 70Ah in a DIN case, because the 1.6 turbo runs idle stop-start. The plug-in hybrid has a 12V auxiliary battery instead. A photo of the label lets us bring the exact match.
Can I upgrade my Jaecoo from EFB to AGM?
In most cases yes, as long as the case size is the same. AGM handles deep discharge and heavy accessory use better, which suits camping and off-road trips. Going the other way, from AGM down to EFB or a flooded battery, is not something we do.
My Jaecoo is new. Why is the battery already flat?
A new battery can still be emptied. Short trips, weeks of parking and accessories on a permanent feed are the common reasons. We test the battery and measure what the car draws when locked. Often the battery recovers with a charge and nothing needs replacing.
Do you offer a jump start service for Jaecoo in Dubai?
Yes, 24 hours a day. The technician uses a booster pack on the 12V terminals, starts the car and then tests the battery and alternator. On hybrid and electric versions the boost goes to the 12V side only. The high-voltage system is left alone.
